Drexelicious Cookies

This award-winning oatmeal cookie by Savanna Gardner (Class of 2010) is served at many Drexel University hospitality department events and ones the students, faculty or staff volunteer for


1 cup butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar or maple sugar
¾ cup white sugar, granulated
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1¼ cup all-purpose flour
¼ cup whole wheat flour
1 tsp baking soda
¼ tsp baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
3 cups dld-fashioned oats
½ cup wheat germ
½ cup shredded coconut
1 cup golden raisins
1 cup dried cherries – chopped or chocolate chips (optional)

Cream together butter and sugars; add eggs and vanilla and beat until smooth. Combine together the flours, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Slowly add to the batter to incorporate.

Sitr in the oat, wheat germ, coconut, raisins and dried cherries or chocolate chips.

Roll into a log and cut into 1/4-inch slices. Lay out on a nonstick or parchment-lined cookie sheet; bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheti for 9-10 minutes.
